In 2014 we moved from the ‘Randstad’ to a farmhouse in the small, quiet village of Wapserveen, Drenthe. Such peace and space! Beautiful farms, friendly people and lots of cows, sheep and horses. What struck me most was the quiet and truly dark nights which made it possible to sometimes see the most magnificent starry skies.
Our house is situated directly next to the entrance of the beautiful nature reserve Holtingerveld. A magnificent area to go cycling, walking or riding in. Because of the broad paths it is also possible to go riding with a horse cart or covered wagon. In summer there are a lot of cyclists due to the web of cycle paths crossing the nature reserve that are connected to the national ‘ANWB’ cycle routes. Also walking and cycle events are being organised in the nearby area every year. During the rest of the year you hardly see anybody in the reserve which makes it feel like our very own private forest.
After more than two years of living here, it still feels like a holiday and we wish to share this experience with you. To be able to do that we converted a part of the house into a guesthouse for 2-4 persons and we hope to meet you sometime soon.
